Sunday Dalí: Rock ‘n Roll, 1957 from the series The Seven Lively Arts. Oil on canvas.

I love how she runs off stage at the end, almost like she’s embarrassed.

Somebody needs to explain why I got an email plugging this release to my promotions email.

We’re back! Check out the news you missed while we were away.
My mom will be so upset. Not Violet! Anything but Violet.
Edit: I read the article, and you know what? FUCK Bobby.

Hey, a few quick things:
1. I have an ask box. I don’t really care what you do with it, but because my Facebook is in a better place now, if you need to message me you can do so here or on my Twitter (@marykinns).
2. The song above is by Dustin Wong, with Matt Papich. He is playing tonight at 285 Kent with Akron/Family. Come and have a good time. Dustin Wong has a new album out in February, and he will tentatively be on my radio show at some point maybe. My radio schedule is totally up in the air as of right now.
3. Speaking of radio shows, last week I interviewed Elisa Da Prato, filmmaker for Music of the Hemispheres, which is a super fascinating project. The archive for the show can be found here and more information about the project can be found here. -
Oh, Venus, I just want to rub your belly. (via)

Pins and Needles

I’ve been fixing a pattern for a dress and have been sewing a little bit, and in between my random punk music, this is the playlist I’ve had on and been tampering with. I think it’s a little schizophrenic. Deal with it. (Download link is the Subject line, Pins and Needles, for clarification)
Tracklist:
1. Balance - Future Islands
2. If I Had A Heart - Fever Ray
3. Woman - Timber Timbre
4. Eyes So Bright - Cate Le Bon
5. I See, So I See So - Broadcast and the Focus Group
6. These Days - Nico
7. All We Are - Dirty Projectors + Bjork
8. ‘81 - Joanna Newsom
9. Going to Georgia - The Mountain Goats
10. She Invites - Human Switchboard
11. I Start to Run - White Denim
12. Sugar Splash - Delicate Steve
13. Canada - Themselves + WHY?
14. Purple Rain - Prince (the grand Finale)Points if you can figure out which songs I play over and over again and which ones I’ve been skipping over. Additionally, if anyone wants to talk about plot holes in the movie Purple Rain, you’ve found your girl.
Edit: Link is fixed!

Finding Emilie
I’d never listened to this segment of the Lost & Found episode, but now that I have, I can’t shake it from my thoughts.

I had planned on making a playlist for/about Long Island, but I abandoned it because it became incredibly annoying. But I cannot part with this song; I rediscovered it going through SiriusXMU’s archives, and my mom started talking to me today about a movie she really wanted to me to see called L.I.E. I can’t seem to escape the song, but I’m glad because it’s really beautiful. And so, I am sharing it.
